Membership to the Symphonic/Marching Band is by audition only. The Marching Band performs at all home football games and occasional away games along with several Saturday competitions in September and October. Pariticipation in the Sherando Band Camp during early August is required in its entirety for membership in the Symphonic/Marching Band. The Symphonic Band is an advanced performaing ensemble designed to challange the mature musician. The band performs music on a Grade V and VI level. Pariticipation in all performances is required. 

 

 

 

 

Membership to the Sherando Jazz Ensemble is by audition only. The Jazz Ensemble focuses on all areas in the development of jazz in the united states with an emphasis on "swing" and "blues". Students will develope an understanding a jazz musical theory and apply it to improvisation. The jazz ensemble is unusual in that it meets before school daily as a "zero period".

 

 

All students are encouraged to form small performing ensembles such as quartets and quintets to enhance their indiviual musical growth.
